Dunlop SP Sport Aquajet

The Dunlop 185 R 15 SP Sport Aquajet is one of Dunlop's earliest radial tyres. This 185 VR 15 Dunlop SP Sport was fitted to the Series 2 XKE (E-Type) Jaguar from 1968. Prior to 1968, the Series 1 XKE, fitted the 185VR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 which is V speed rated (149mph). At the time Dunlops radial offering was the SP41, but using the Dunlop SP 41 you have to restrict the speed of the car to 120 MPH. The Dunlop SP 41 is no longer made, it was made obsolete by the introduction of the SP Sport Aquajet.
Dunlop's early radial tyre, the 185 VR 15 SP Sport was also called the Aquajet. The design of the tread on the SP Sport had small holes coming out of the tread designed to shoot water out like a jet of water, hence the name Aquajet. The Dunlop Aquajet or SP Sport is still available including the 185VR15.
