- The Vanden Plas was the top-of-the-range Daimler/Jaguar model.
- For the Daimler Vanden Plas we suggest 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5 that was fitted as OE in period.
- This is the tyre that Jaguar developed with Pirelli in the 1970s to improve its XJ range. Todays production has the perfect carcass to compliment a Daimler Vanden Plas chassis, but with modern build quality and compounds that work better in the wet.
- Our period Innertube Guides state that the Vanden Plas was released on tubeless wheels, innertubes are not a requirement.

History of the Daimler Vanden Plas
Vanden Plas developed the Daimler DS420 limousines to replace the Austin Princess on a longer Jaguar Mark X basis. The Kingsbury Lane Vanden Plas plant manufactured the DS420 until it closed in November 1979. In 1967, the board of British Leyland determined that there was not enough money in the group advertising budget to sell both the Daimler and Jaguar brands in North America. This decision was eventually reversed, although Vanden Plas is now used on Jaguar's top premium vehicles in North America instead of Daimler.
Because ownership of the Vanden Plas brand remained with the Rover Group, after Rover was sold, Jaguar was forced to discontinue use of the name in the United Kingdom, albeit it continues to do so in America. A Daimler Double-Six Vanden Plas became a standard Daimler Double-Six in the United Kingdom.
