Peugeot 204 Tyres

  • We suggest fitting 145 HR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 as the best tyre for a Peugeot 204.
  • The Peugeot 204 Sedan, CC & Minivan originally fitted 135R14 Michelin X, sadly these tyres are often no longer manufactured.
  • The Peugeot 204 Break, and many of the other models after September 1968 fitted 145-14 Tyres.
  • We recommend the Michelin 14CG innertube.

History of the Peugeot 204

Built between 1965-1976, the Peugeot 204 was a small family car that was known in development as Project D12, and would become the best-selling car in France from 1969 to 1971 with 1,604,296 produced in total. The 204 was introduced on 20 April 1965 with a single overhead cam 1130 cc petrol engine, which was the biggest size permitted in the 6CV car tax class the 204 was in.

It received a more contemporary petrol engine, now of 1127 cc, in September 1975, less than a year before manufacture ended. The claimed maximum power rose from 53 bhp at launch to 59 bhp, with a minor drop in maximum torque. Though not as popular in the UK due to prohibitive import taxes pricing it somewhat out the market, the car is still praised for its handling, performance and fuel economy plus being heavily influenced by the BMC ADO16.
