Renault 1934 Vivasport Convertible
Renault Vivasport 1933–1938
- Longstone's recommendation for the Renault Vivasport is the 14 x 45 Michelin DR.
- It is possible to fit a wider tyre in the 15/16 x 45 Michelin DR, however we advise caution fitting wider tyres as it can negatively impact handling and performance.
- The recommended tube for both sizes of tyre is the Michelin 18" C RET Central Valve innertube, or the Michelin 18/19CD RET Offset Valve innertube, depending on your wheel type.
- The Vivasport fitted tube-type wheels throughout production, innertubes are required for these wheels to function.
History of the Renault Vivasport
The Renault Vivasport was a 6-cylinder executive car developed by Renault in September 1933 and manufactured until April 1935. Between December 1934 and February 1938, a bigger engined variant was built. As with many Renaults in the 1930s, type modifications, as well as minor aesthetic facelifts and enhancements, were common.
The term "sport" in the car's name represented the use of a well-known formula in which an engine from a larger model - in this case, the Renault Vivastella - was coupled with a body from the smaller Renault Primastella. Performance was similarly brisker than that of the Vivastella or the Primastella, with a peak speed of 77 mph claimed in 1933 for a normally bodied version of the automobile.
