1968 Bond Equipe GT4S 1300
Bond Equipe GT4S 1300 1967–1970
- The Bond Equipe GT4S 1300 originally fitted 520 - 13 tyres, but there is not currently a high-quality crossply tyre that we recommend in this size.
- Instead we suggest fitting a set of 145HR13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 tyres, as they reliably offer good all-round performance.
- The ideal tube for this is the Michelin 13CG innertube.
- Some Bond Equipe GT4S 1300 may be fitted with 155 R13 tyres possibly because 145R13 tyres can be difficult to find, or perhaps they prefer a larger tyre footprint.
- In the 155R13 size, the 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 comes highly recommended.
- To get the best out of your 155R13 tyres, the Michelin 13D is the ideal innertube.
History of the Bond Equipe GT4S 1300
The engine was upgraded to a 75 horsepower 1296 cc version in April 1967, exactly one month after the Spitfire itself had the same update, and the improved variant was known as the GT4S 1300. As a result, reported output increased by 12%. Simultaneously, the front disc brakes were expanded, and the rear suspension design (one component not brought over unchanged from the Triumph Spitfire) got some "attention."
