The History of the Ferrari 195

The Ferrari 195 Inter is a grand tourer (GT) variant of the Ferrari 195 S racing that was unveiled in 1950. It was introduced at the 1950 Paris Motor Show and was similar to the 166 Inter, which had been exhibited a year before, and was aimed at the same affluent demographic. The odd-numbered chassis numbers were assigned to the 27 vehicles, which were manufactured in less than a year.

The wheelbase was increased by 80 mm (3.1 in) to 2,500 mm (98.4 in), as was the case with the final 166 Inters, but the bigger 2.3L version of the Colombo V12 was the main differentiator. The engine was enhanced by increasing the bore from 60 to 65 mm while keeping the stroke at 58.8 mm. Normally, a single Weber 36DCF carburettor was employed, with a total output of 130 horsepower, however certain models featured triple carbs.

The more powerful (but otherwise identical) Ferrari 212 Inter debuted at the 1951 Paris Motor Show and outlasted the 195. Ferrari's 195 S was a racing sports vehicle, built in 1950. It was comparable to the 166 MM, which was also run at the Giro di Sicilia on April 2, 1950. The two vehicles, one open and one closed coupe, shared the same 2250 mm wheelbase but featured a larger 2.3 L Colombo V12. These two original vehicles were forced to retire, but three attended the Mille Miglia that year, which was won by Giannino Marzotto's 195 S Touring coupe.
