Fiat 1300 S Tyres

Fiat 1300 S

Fiat 1300 1961–1967

  • The First Fiat 1300 tyres were crossply tyres in the 560 - 13 size.
  • Currently, we do not have a high-quality crossply tyre in this size. We can offer the 5.60 x 13 Camac, but we would recommend instead fitting a set of radial tyres.
  • The equivalent radial tyre size is called 155 R13, and we recommend the 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 as the ideal Fiat 1300 radial tyre.
  • The 155 HR 13 Michelin XAS FF is another excellent period radial tyre in this size.
  • The ideal innertube for these tyres is the Michelin 13D.

Fiat 1300 History

The Fiat 1300, produced from 1961 to 1967, marked a significant era in Italian automotive history. It replaced the older Fiat 1400 and 1200 models, showcasing a blend of practicality and style that was quintessential of the 1960s.

Conceived by Mario Boano at Centro Stile Fiat, the Fiat 1300 was offered in various body styles, including a 4-door saloon, 5-door station wagon, 2-door cabriolet, and 2-door coupé. This diversity catered to a wide range of customers, from families to style-conscious individuals. At the heart of the Fiat 1300 was a 1295 cc OHV 4-cylinder inline engine, delivering 60 hp at 5000 rpm. The engine was advanced for its time, featuring alloy cylinder heads with twin rocker shafts and inlet valves angled at 45 degrees. This setup provided a balanced combination of performance and efficiency.

The vehicle had a compact yet spacious design with a wheelbase of 2,425 mm (95.5 in), a length of 4,030 mm (158.7 in), and a width of 1,545 mm (60.8 in). The Fiat 1300 weighed around 960 kg (2,116 lb), making it a moderately weighted car for its class. One of the standout features of the Fiat 1300 was its front disc brakes, a pioneering feature at the time that significantly improved safety and handling.

For the Fiat 1300, a total of 1,900,000 units were produced worldwide during its production period. This figure encompasses both the Fiat 1300 and 1500 models, reflecting the popularity and widespread production of these cars. The Fiat 1300's production, along with the Fiat 1500, is a testament to the model's significance in automotive history.
