Panther De Ville Tyres

  • For a Panther De Ville a set of 235/70R15 Michelin XVS Whitewall is the best option for this beautiful neo-classic luxury car.
  • If you do not want whitewall tyres then we recommend the 235/70 R 15 Avon Turbosteel.
  • The Michelin 15/17H will be the best fitting innertube for these tyres.

  • Fun Fact - The Panther De Ville was the car driven by the fictional villainess of 101 Dalmatians; Cruella De Vil.

History of the Panther De Ville

Panther Westwinds, a British speciality car manufacturer, developed the Panther De Ville, a neo-classic luxury car, from 1974 until 1985. Robert Jankel designed the De Ville to appeal to the tastes of nouveau riche consumers (Elton John was a notable early owner). Around 60 De Villes were manufactured, including eleven convertibles and one pink and gold six-door limousine. All models were made by hand and the De Ville was Britain's most expensive listed production car for many years.

The tubular-framed De Ville had a 360-cm wheelbase and was powered by a straight-six or a V12 engine from Jaguar Cars. The flowing wing lines and large headlights of the De Ville were designed to resemble those of the Bugatti Royale. The cockpit of the De Ville was contemporary, lacking the pre-war style of the exterior.

The Panther De Ville had Jaguar suspension, power steering, and automatic transmission, making it a fun vehicle to drive and relatively speedy, albeit poor aerodynamics kept the top speed modest. The interiors were opulent, with TV sets and drink bars commonplace.
