Porsche Carrera Tyres

Porsche Carrera 1973–1989
- The early 911 Carrera Came fitted with 185/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 on the front & 215/60 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 on the rear.
- For 185/70 R15 tyres we offer the Michelin 15E innertube, the other tyres on this page are below 70% profile (e.g 215/60VR15 CN36) and cannot fit innertubes.
- In 1973 the Porsche Carrera was one of the first cars to fit 60% profile tyres.
- In 1975 the 911 Turbo Carrera 3.0 was one of the first cars to fit the new 205/50 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 and 225/50 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7.
- Tyres with a profile below 70% (e.g 225/50 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7) should not fit innertubes.
- Through the Mid 1970s Porsche offered the 15” Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyres as an option on their 911 Carrera.
- From 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 models offered 6” & 7” X 16” wheels with 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 and the 225/50 YR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7.
- After 1985 the Porsche 911 Carrera no longer offered a 15” wheel option.
- From 1985 some 911 Carrera offered a wider 9” rear wheel with a 245/45 YR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7, as it was standard with the Carrera Super Sport 3.2.
- The Pirelli CN36 and the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyres are N homologated by Porsche as a recommended Porsche tyre.

Controversially the first Porsche 911 Carrera models left the factory fitted with the first super low profile radial tyres (215/60R15) did come fitted with innertubes. This doesn’t mean it's ok. It is worth mentioning that Porsche swiftly transitioned to tubeless wheels with a safety hump and tubeless tyres after producing the first 60% profile tyre. Tube-type 60-profile tyres were also discontinued by tyre manufacturers. 60% and 65% profile tyres need to be fitted to tubeless wheels and run without innertubes.
