Datsun 280Z History

The Datsun 280Z is a sports car that was produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan under the Datsun brand from 1975 to 1978. It is part of the Nissan S30 series, which includes other models like the 240Z and 260Z. The 280Z was introduced as a successor to the 260Z and aimed to continue the legacy of the iconic Z-car line.

Under the hood, the Datsun 280Z is powered by a 2.8-litre inline-six engine, hence the "280" in its name. This engine, equipped with fuel injection technology, produces around 170 horsepower, providing the car with ample power. The engine is mated to either a four-speed manual transmission or an optional three-speed automatic transmission.

The 280Z offers a comfortable and driver-focused interior. It features bucket seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a centre console that houses various controls and gauges. The cabin provides a balance of sportiness and comfort, making it suitable for both spirited driving and long journeys.

The Datsun 280Z gained popularity for its engaging driving dynamics and relatively affordable price compared to other sports cars of its time. It offered a combination of performance, reliability, and style that appealed to enthusiasts. The Nissan S130 succeeded the S30 series in 1979.

Today, the Datsun 280Z is considered a classic and is cherished by collectors and vintage car enthusiasts. Its timeless design, performance capabilities, and historical significance as part of the Z-car lineage have made it an iconic vehicle in automotive history.
