Allard P1
Allard P1 1949–1952
- The original equipment on an Allard P1 was a 625 - 16 crossply. However, this is a rare size and sadly no longer supported. The best alternative crossply fitment for these tyres is 6.00 - 16 The best tyre in this size is the 6.00 - 16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA, this has a V speed rating, the fastest speed rating in the size. To accompany this, the Stella Bianca offers brilliant directional stability.
- Alternatively, if you want to fit a radial, the 185 VR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 also has fantastic directional stability and offers lighter steering than other radial tyres (however the steering won't be as light as the steering you'd get from fitting a crossply tyre). The CA67 also retains the classic look of the period which we saw on many cars of its time.
- The P1 was released with tube-type wheels and fitted innertubes as standard. With these tyres we would suggest the Michelin 16F is the ideal Allard P1 innertube.
History of the Allard P1
The Allard P1 was a hard-topped two-door saloon based on the Allard M drophead coupe variant, manufactured between 1949 and 1951. Despite being viewed as a more relaxed cruiser, it had clear competitive roots. AllardSydney Allard, the creator and owner of AllardSydney Allard, drove one to victory in the 1952 Monte Carlo Rally, making him the first individual in the event's history to win with a car bearing his own name.
