|When Citroen first made the CX it fitted 185R14 Michelin tyres. Some models also fitted a 175R14 on the rear; this was very much a period fad of Citroen on cars like the DS and CX. Today however the tyre for these cars is the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P. It is of a high enough specification for all these tyres, and there is no benefit to having the smaller tyres on the rear. Fitting the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P resolves any difficulties you might have fitting a wrong size spare.|
In the Mid 80's (approx 1985) the Citroen CX changed to 195/70VR14 MXV (or MXL on the lower specification models). These tyres are no longer made. The 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P is of equally excellent carcase structure and would still be the best tyre for these later 80's Citroen CX cars on 14" wheels.
Original Citroen CX Tyres
The Citroen CX also moved on to The new Michelin TRX tyres so many of the Citroen CX GTi and CX25 models fitted the 190/65HR390 Michelin TRX tyres. The Citroen CX 25 GTi Turbo however fitted 210/55VR390 Michelin TRX tyres.
Do be careful of these cars, when it comes to tyre pressure. it varies per model so please check carfully.

History of the Citroën B14
The Citroën CX is an executive car produced by the French automaker Citroën from 1974 to 1991. Citroën sold nearly 1.2 million CXs during its 16 years of production. The CX was voted European Car of the Year in 1975. The name CX is the French equivalent abbreviation of Cd for drag coefficient in English, drawing attention to the car's aerodynamic styling, which was uncommon in 1974.
It is considered by some enthusiasts as the last "real Citroën" before Peugeot took control of the company in 1976. The CX was also the final successful model of the "big Citroën" era, which began in 1934.
Available models were a four-door fastback, a station wagon (shooting brake, or estate car), and a long-wheelbase model built on the estate chassis. The CX employed Citroën's unique hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system.
