Austin A99 Westminster Tyres
- Austin A99 Westminster fitted 700 - 14 crossply tyres, a size that is no longer produced.
- Today the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P would be the best A99 Austin Westminster tyre.
- We do also offer a 195/75 R 14 Hankook Whitewall with a thin white wall that is slightly wider but extremely good value.
- For both recommended tyres we suggest the Michelin 14F to be the ideal innertube.
- Austin Westminster A99 suggested tyre pressures are 30psi front and 32psi rear.
History of the Austin A99 Westminster
The A99 Westminster debuted in 1959, with a redesigned body Pininfarina. The previous year, Pininfarina redesigned Austin's small A40 and mid-sized A55 Cambridge models. The 2.9 L (2912 cc) C-Series straight-6 engine with dual SU carburettors from the Austin-Healey 3000 was under the hood. When given the  Westminster tune-up, the engine generated 103 horsepower. A three-speed all-synchromesh manual transmission with a Borg-Warner overdrive unit was standard, with an optional Borg-Warner automatic transmission. Another new addition was the Lockheed brakes with power assist and 10.75-inch discs on the front.
