Daimler XJ6 Sovereign S2 (Pillarless Coupe)
Daimler XJ6 1965–2003
- The first Daimler XJ6 Sovereign and Coupe fitted ER/70 R 15 Dunlop SP Sport. (ER/70VR15, is the same size as 205/70VR15).
- In 1977 Jaguar asked Pirelli to develop their P5 specially for the XJ6, XJ12 and XJS Luxury cars. So from 1979 the Pirelli P5 is homologated for the Daimler XJ6.
- We would suggest that the best tyre for a Daimler XJ6 Sovereign or XJ6 Coupe is 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5.
- Our period fitment guides inform us that the XJ was released on wheels suitable for tubeless tyres, innertubes are not needed in your XJ, providing that your tyres are also tubeless (our recommended tyres are all tubeless).
- If you decide to fit tubes, for these tyres the Michelin 15F innertube is the correct size.
- Recommended tyre pressure for a XJ Saloon or Coupe is 36psi front and rear, for more specific detail on individual models see the table below.
- A short story of Jaguar testing the Pirelli P5.
- A German classic car magazine ran a Classic Car Tyre Test, on a Jaguar E Type. They concluded that the PIRELLI P5 was the ideal classic tyre for cars with power-steering.
