Borgward

History of the Borgward

Borgward is an automobile manufacturer that was founded by Carl F. W. Borgward (November 10, 1890 – July 28, 1963). The original company, based in Bremen in Germany, ceased operations in 1961. The Borgward group produced four brands of cars: Borgward, Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd.

The marque was revived by Carl Borgward's grandson, Christian Borgward, with his partner Karlheinz L. Knöss, and assistance from Chinese investment in 2008. It unveiled the company's first new car in over 50 years, the BX7 at the 2015 International Motor Show.
