The A110, which debuted in 1963, shared numerous Renault components, including engines, with earlier road-going Alpines. While the A108 was based on Dauphine components, the A110 was upgraded to incorporate R8 components. Unlike the A108, which was originally offered as a cabriolet and subsequently as a coupé, the A110 was first available as a Berlinetta and then as a cabriolet. The most noticeable visual change from the A108 coupé was a redesign of the rear bodywork. This modification was made to fit the A110's bigger engine and also gave the car a more aggressive appearance.
