Peugeot 504
Peugeot 504 1968–1983
- Longstone recommends the 175 HR 14 Michelin XAS for a Peugeot 504 GL, Saloon, Coupe, Cabriolet.
- These tyres would best fit an Michelin 14E innertube.
- We suggest a set of 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P for a Peugeot 504 Estate.
- The 195/70 VR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 can be fitted as a wider low-profile alternative tyre.
- For these tyres the Michelin 14F is the ideal innertube.
- Earlier models fitted tube-type wheels that require innertubes. Our period Innertube Guides inform which models of the 504 transitioned to tubeless wheels, and when. See below to find your make and model.
History of the Peugeot 504
Built between 1968-1983, the Peugeot 504 was Peugeot's flagship model that would go on to win European car of the year in 1969 with more than 3 million being produced in Europe. It would go on to have many variations, including a smaller-engined model in response to the 1973 oil crisis and the race versions would have some success in the WRC from 1975-1978. More than three million 504s were produced in Europe, with manufacturing continuing internationally under different licence deals – including 27,000 constructed in Kenya and 425,000 manufactured in Nigeria, employing knock-down kits – until 2006.
