BMW 507 with 185 VR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 Tyres
BMW 507 1956–1960
- In period, BMW did not fit tyres from a foreign manufacturer, so radial tyres were out, and the 600 - 16 Continental Super Record Nylon were the original BMW 507 tyres.
- However for modern roads, the best tyres for the BMW 507 are the 185 VR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
- The PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 is a period radial tyre developed in period, in conjunction with sports cars such as the 507 to give radial performance while still giving progressive handling.
- The Continental Super Record Nylon is no longer made, the 6.00-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA is the best sporting crossply option.
- The BMW 507 can also fit a 6.00 R 16 Michelin Pilote X, as a good radial option.
- The BMW 507 was fitted with the PIRELLI CINTURATO as a radial upgrade in period, and we would suggest that is still the best tyre for a 507 today.
- The ideal innertube for these tyres is the Michelin 16F innertube.
- Our suggested BMW 507 tyre pressure would be 30 psi front and rear.

History of the BMW 507
Launched alongside the BMW 503 Coupe in 1956 and built until 1959, the BMW 507 was the convertible sibling to the 503. Made with an aluminium body and constructed on a shortened 502 chassis, this roadster was powered by a 150bhp V8 engine, giving it a fair amount of speed. However, a high price and relatively poor awareness of its existence at launch contributed to just 252 being made, losing a lot of money on each one.
