1961 Bristol 406 Zagato Milano
Bristol 406 1958–1961
- Like so many of the top cars of the late fifties the Bristol 406 fitted 6.00 - 16 crossply tyres.
- The best road crossply tyre for the 406 would be 6.00-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA.
- Often to make the ‘50s cars more suited to modern roads a radial is fitted, we would suggest that the 185 VR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 is the best choice.
- The best innertube for a Bristol 406 with crossply or radial tyres would be the 16 F RET Michelin.
History of the Bristol 406
The Bristol 406 built from 1958-1961 was the last Bristol that would utilise the BMW straight-six engine, which though bored out was still underpowered compared to modern engines of the time. It did however featured greatly improved brakes to its predecessors, with 4 Dunlop-built disc brakes as well as rear suspension on a Watts linkage.
