Bristol 406 Tyres
- Like so many of t he top cars of the late fifties the Bristol 406 fitted 6.00-16 crossply tyres.
- The best road crossply tyre for the 406 would be 6.00-16 Pirelli Stella Bianca.
- Often to make the ‘50s cars more suited to modern roads a radial is fitted the best would suggest is the 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato.
- We would suggest the best inner tube for a Bristol 406 with crossply or radial tyres would be the 16 F RET Michelin.

History of the Bristol 406
The Bristol 406 built from 1958-1961 was the last Bristol that would utilise the BMW straight six engine, which though bored out was still underpowered compared to modern engines of the time. It did however feature much improved brakes to its predecessors, with 4 dunlop-built disc brakes as well as rear suspension on a Watts linkage.
