History of the Austin A40 Somerset
The A40 Somerset, a successor to the successful A40 Devon and constructed between 1952 and 1954, continued in the same tradition of producing a large number of excellent saloons at an affordable price, with more bulbous designing and hydraulic brakes. The engine is also significantly larger than its Devon counterpart, measuring 1200cc, yet even with this larger engine, it fails to meet the national speed limit.
