The Mercedes-Benz W 21 was a six-cylinder passenger car, introduced in 1933, available as the Torpedo-bodied "Tourenwagen," the "Limousine" (sedan/saloon), and several cabriolets. In 1934, a lengthened version increased the wheelbase, introducing the "Pullman-Limousine," "Pullman-Landaulet," and three extended Cabriolet models.

Produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1937 to 1941, the mid-size luxury W143, also known as Typ 230, was available in multiple body styles: 2 or 4-door "Limousine" sedans, various Cabriolet configurations, a six-seater "Pullman-Limousine," and "Landaulet." The W143 featured the 230 N (1937) and 230 (1937–1941).

  • The Mercedes-Benz W143 Type 230 N (1937) and Type 230 (1937–1941) both fitted 550 - 17 tyres.
  • In this size, we can recommend the 5.25/5.50 x 17 Lucas.

The Mercedes-Benz W113, launched in 1963, is revered for its elegant and iconic "Pagoda" roof design. Each model was equipped with a robust inline-six engine, offering capacities ranging from 2.3L to 2.8L. The W113 was produced until 1971. The only 230 in this line-up is the 1963–1967 230SL.

Launched in 1961, the Mercedes-Benz W110, an entry-level midsize model, introduced the "Fintail" design inspired by American automotive trends. Active until 1968, the W110 expanded its engine options, including a six-cylinder model, and was notable for its extensive crash testing to enhance safety standards. The only 230 on the W110 chassis is the 1965–1968 230.

  • The Mercedes-Benz 230 W110 first fitted a 7.00 - 13 crossply tyres.
  • If you want a crossply tyre, we recommend the 6.40/7.00 SR 13 Michelin ZX.
  • Alternatively, you could switch to radial tyres for better performance. The radial equivalent size is 185 R13.

Introduced in 1959, the Mercedes-Benz W111 is known for its "Fintail" design, a hallmark of the era's US-influenced aesthetic. The W111 series included both four-door saloons and two-door coupé and cabriolet versions. The only 230 in the W111 line-up is the 230 S.

  • The Mercedes-Benz 230 S W111, made from 1965 to 1968, originally fitted 7.00 - 13 crossply tyres. If you want a crossply, the 6.40/7.00 SR 13 Michelin ZX is the ideal W111 Mercedes 230 crossply tyre.
  • 185/70 R13 is a radial equivalent size to 7.00-13. The ideal Mercedes 230 S W111 radial tyre is the 185 HR 13 Michelin XAS FF.

Launched in 1968, the Mercedes-Benz W114, styled by Paul Bracq, is a front-engine, rear-drive model featuring a distinctive three-box design. Available as a sedan or coupé, the W114 seats five. Mercedes-Benz 230 W114 models include the 230 and 230.6, as well as the 230 Lang (LWB) and 230.6 Lang.

  • Mercedes-Benz 230 and 230.6 W114 models originally fitted 6.95-14 crossply tyres. This size is no longer in production. We recommend following Mercedes in their move to 175 R14 tyres.
  • Our recommended 175 R14 tyre is the 175 HR 14 Michelin XAS.

Available in sedan, coupe, estate, and limousine, the W123 it gained fame for its durability, especially in challenging conditions. 230 models on the 1976–1986 W123 chassis include the 230, 230C (coupe), 230T (estate), 230 E (fuel injection), 230 CE, and 230 TE.

  • The Mercedes 230 on the W123 chassis fitted either 5.5J wheels and 175 R14 tyres, or 6J wheels and 195/70 R14 tyres.
  • In these sizes, we recommend the 175 R14 Michelin XAS or the 195/70VR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36, depending on your car's wheel size.

  • All W123 Mercedes 230 cars were offered with an optional wheel and tyre upgrade, with millimetric 150 TR wheels, and either 190/65 R390 or 200/60 R390 tyres.
