History of the Renault 15/17
The Renault 15 and 17 were two versions of the same coupé, based on the Renault 12. They were built between 1971 and 1979. The biggest difference between the two vehicles was that the Renault 15 had two rectangular headlights and the Renault 17 had four circular headlights. The chassis was developed from the Renault 12, while the 1565 cc 107 horsepower engine in the more powerful R17 TS and R17 Gordini variants was derived from the Renault 16 TS engine. Despite the fact that the mechanicals of the automobiles was drawn from earlier Renaults, the body was entirely novel.
