History of the Peugeot 201
The Peugeot 201 is an automobile that was manufactured by Peugeot between 1929 and 1937. The Peugeot 201 debuted at the 1929 Paris Motor Show, against the backdrop of the Wall Street Crash. While many European manufacturers would not survive the subsequent slump, Peugeot's reputation as a low-cost automobile enabled it to emerge from the crisis with its finances intact and its position as a leading automaker reinforced. Peugeot had created a petrol/gasoline-powered motor vehicle as early as 1886, however, the Peugeot 201 could be considered the company's first mass-produced model.
