Jaguar S-Type Tyres
1964 Jaguar S Type
S Type Jaguar 1963–1968
- The S Type Jaguar of the 1960s originally fitted 640 H 15 Dunlop RS5 tyres.
- In 1964 Jaguar changed the S-Type onto 185R15 Dunlop SP41 radial tyres. Sadly, however, Dunlop no longer make historic road tyres.
- The 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 is the perfect radial tyre for an S-type Jaguar.
- The PIRELLI CINTURATO was the sporting radial tyre of the 1960s.
- If you consider your steering of your S-Type to be heavy, the 180 HR 15 Michelin XAS is also superb and offers lighter steering.
- The 180 HR 15 Michelin XAS was developed in conjunction with Citroen and Michelin to make the DS drive in a straight line. They really make 1960s cars easier to use on modern motorways.
- There is a 185 x 15 Dunlop SP Sport Aquajet that Dunlop used to make, however we would still recommend the Pirelli or Michelin.
- Our period fitment guides inform us that the S-Type fitted tube-type wheels throughout its production. If you have the original wheels, or wire wheels fitted, then innertubes are necessary.
- The Michelin 15F innertube is the best fitting tube for an S type Jaguar with these tyres.

Jaguar S-Type Tyres Explained
History of the Jaguar S Type
The Jaguar S-Type is a saloon automobile manufactured by Jaguar Cars in the United Kingdom between 1963 and 1968. It was announced on September 30, 1963, as a technically more advanced version of the Mark 2, providing purchasers with a more elegant choice without the size and cost of the Mark X. Following its debut in 1966, the S-Type sold alongside the Mark 2 and the Jaguar 420. Based on the design of the original S-Type automobiles, a retro-styled vehicle with the same name was also built.
S-Type Jaguar FAQ
A: I would suggest that the best tyre for an S- type Jaguar would be the 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO â„¢ CA67 There is another excellent tyre for these Jaguar saloons such as the S-type which is the Michelin XAS 180 HR 15. This makes the steering nice and light, but I think an S type has power steering from memory.
