525 - 18 can also be described as: 525 x 18, 5.25-18 or 5.25X18.
In the pre-war 1930s period, both 525-18 and 550 – 18 tyres would be made. But today a 525/550-18 tyres are produced to cover bothy sizes.
Michelin make a 4.75/5.25 x 18 Michelin DR which is a strangely wide tyre in this size, but offers excellent grip and comfort.
As an Alternative Pirelli make the 5.50-18 Stella Bianca Tyre which is the best handling tyre in the size.
The 5.25/5.50 x 18 Lucas is a great bargain with a 1930 tread pattern.
The 5.25/5.50-18 Ensign has good stiff side walls which suits some cars.
