Simca Chambord
Simca Chambord 1958–1966
- Longstone's recommendation for the Simca Chambord is the 165 HR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
- If you would like a whitewall tyre, we now offer the 165R15 Michelin XZX Whitewall, a quality tyre that offers fashion and good performance at the same time.
- The Chambord fitted tube-type wheels. For these tyres we suggest the Michelin 15E innertube.
History of the Simca Chambord
The Simca Chambord was the first automobile produced at Simca's facility in Brazil. In March 1959, the first automobile, an authorised replica of the French-built Simca Vedette, rolled off the assembly line. It had the standard 84 hp engine, a three-speed gearbox with the shifter on the steering column, and was built from parts imported from France.
Simca Brasil rapidly switched to components made by Brazilian OEM parts suppliers during 1960. In 1961, the Chambord had an updated engine with 90 horsepower and 15% greater torque, a little shorter differential, and 98 percent of the parts were already made in Brazil. The Tufo (whirlwind) was a unique variant with some extra luxury features in its interior. Up to 1966, 42,910 Chambords were constructed, and engine performance eventually increased to 120 hp. These more powerful Chambords could accelerate from 62 mph to 99 mph in 14.3 seconds.
