Vauxhall Viva Tyres

1964 Vauxhall Viva HA
Vauxhall Viva 1963–1979
Vauxhall Viva HA Tyres 1963–1966
- The Viva HA fitted 550 - 12 or 145 R12 tyres.
- In the 550 - 12 crossply size we have the 5.50 x 12 Camac, however, this is a budget tyre.
- We recommend fitting the radial 145 SR 12 Michelin MX tyre.

1969 Vauxhall Viva HB
Vauxhall Viva HB Tyres 1966–1970
- The Viva HB L, DL, and SL fitted 6.2-12 or 155 R12 tyres.
- 6.2-12 tyres are not in production, we recommend fitting 155 R12 tyres, of which we have the 155 R 12 Nankang.
- The Viva HB 90, 90SK, 1600, 1600LS, and Brabham variants fitted 6.2-12 or 155 R12 tyres. We suggest a set of 155 R 12 Nankang tyres.
- The Viva HB GT fitted 155 R13 or 165/70 R13 tyres.
- There is not a classic tyre currently made in the 165/70 R13 size, we recommend the 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 for the Viva HB GT.
- The Viva HB Estate fitted 6.2-12 or 155R12 tyres. In this size the best Viva HB Estate tyre is the 155 R 12 Nankang.

1974 Vauxhall Viva HC Deluxe
Vauxhall Viva HC Tyres 1970–1979
- The Viva HC 1.3 GLS, 1.8 Saloons and Estates, and the HCE 2 door and 4 door variants fitted either 560 - 13, 155 R13, or 175/70 R13 tyres.
- If you want crossply tyres we have the 5.60 x 13 Camac.
- Some HC Saloon models may have originally fitted 520 - 13 crossply tyres. We have the 5.20 x 13 Camac, but we recommend switching to 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 or 175/70 VR 13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 tyres.
- Estate variants were also fitted with either 5.60-13, 155 R13, or 175/70 VR 13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 tyres.

1969 Vauxhall Viva HB GT
Vauxhall Viva Innertubes
- Viva models with 3.5" and 4" wide wheels need innertubes. Wheels this narrow do not feature the safety rib seen on larger wheels, making innertubes a must-have for safety reasons.
- Viva models with 4.5" and 5" wheels are tubeless, provided they are also fitting tubeless radial tyres.
- Most crossply tyres are tube-type and require innertubes to properly and safely function. See our period fitment guides for more information.
- The correct Vauxhall Viva innertubes for 145 R12 tyres is the Michelin 12CG.
- The ideal Viva tube for 550 - 12 and 155 - 12 tyres is the Michelin 12D.
- The best innertube for a Viva on 155 R13 or 5.60 - 13 tyres is the Michelin 13D.
- The correct Viva innertube for 175/70 R13 tyres is the Michelin 13E.
The Vauxhall Viva shared structural and mechanical components with the and Opel Kadett. The Vauxhall Viva HA (1963–1966), introduced shortly after the Opel Kadett A (1962–1965), used a similar floorpan and engine construction, though most parts were not directly interchangeable due to metric versus imperial measurements. Later Viva models also shared some elements of later Opel Kadett cars.

1969 Vauxhall Viva HB Estate
History of the Vauxhall Viva
Built between 1963 and 1979, the Vauxhall Viva was a small family car that was highly similar to the Opel Kadett launched a year beforehand. There would be three main series of the Vauxhall Viva; known as the HA Viva series (1963–1966), HB Viva series (1966–1970), & HC Viva series (1970–1979), with many variations in this series of GT, SL, and GLS, as well as Estate & Saloons versions, plus a van sold under the name of the Bedford HA.
Independent Classic Tyre Test - The Results
In the world of modern tyres, it is commonplace to come across a tyre test. Sadly, in the world of classic tyres, the investment never seems to be there to do a proper modern tyre test. However, a German magazine in July 2016 conducted this modern tyre test using classic tyres. This classic tyre test has been translated from German to English. What is remarkable in this tyre test is quite how well the PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36 classic tyre performed in the table at the end. The scores in this table are not scored in relation to the other tyres in the test, so when a score of 1 is recorded, that is a perfect score for a classic tyre or a modern tyre. It is wonderful to see that these classic PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36 tyres can give such exemplary results.
