Fiat X1/9 1972–1982–1989

• Fiat X1/9 1300, including early European and U.S. models from 1972 to 1978, originally fitted 145 R13 tyres on 4½J x 13 steel wheels.
• In this size, the ideal Fiat X1/9 tyre is the 145 R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67. The 145 HR 13 Michelin XAS FF is also an excellent option in the 145 R13 size.
• Special versions of the 1300, such as the Fiat X1/9 Series Speciale and the X1/9 Lido, released in the late 1970s fitted 5J x 13 alloy wheels and 165/70 R13 tyres. In 1979, the X1/9 was upgraded to the 1500cc engine, and all standard Fiat X1/9 1500 models from 1979 to 1982 fitted 165/70 R13 tyres as original equipment. This tyre size remained unchanged into the Bertone-badged era, with the Bertone X1/9 1500 continuing from 1982. The Bertone X1/9 VS (Versione Speciale), offered in the UK and mainland Europe from 1984 to 1987, also fitted the factory size 165/70 R13 tyres.

• Late-production X1/9s such as the 1988 X1/9 Special Edition and the 1989–1990 Bertone X1/9 Gran Finale featured wider alloy wheels and came from the factory fitted with low-profile 185/60 R13 tyres. In this size the ideal Fiat X1/9 classic tyre is the 185/60 HR 13 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2.

Fiat X1/9 Innertubes

• Our Fiat X1/9 Period Tyre Fitment Guides below suggest that all Fiat X1/9 models fitting 145 R13 or 165/70 R13 tyres fitted tube-type wheels with innertubes. Later models with a tyre profile below 70% e.g., 185/60 R13 fitted tubeless wheels that must not use innertubes.
• The correct tube for 145 R13 tyres is the Michelin 13CG.
