Gilbern Genie 1966–1969
- For Gilbern Genie tyres a set of 165-15 Michelin XAS is recommended by Longstone Tyres.
- A set of 165 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 would also be a good option.
- For these tyres we suggest the Michelin 15E innertube.
- It is believed (but not known for certain) that earlier Genie cars ran tube-type wheels that require innertubes, but some later models fitted a modern alloy wheel that can be run tubeless. History of the Gilbern Genie
The Gilburn Genie, a spacious, upmarket car, debuted at the London Motor Show in 1966. It was available with either a 2.5- or 3-litre Ford Essex V6 engine and a gearbox with optional overdrive, but the steering and rear axle remained BMC components from the MGB. On most automobiles, the engine was equipped with a twin-choke Weber carburettor, however, a limited number were equipped with Tecalemit Jackson fuel injection. The rear suspension was different from the MG in that it included coil-spring/damper units as well as trailing arms. Early Genies had a Panhard rod to locate the rear axle, which was eventually replaced with a Watts linkage. The Genie remained in production until 1969.
