History of the Ferrari 250 GT Ellena

The 250 GT Ferrari Ellena was a 250 GT Boano adaptation. When Fiat hired Boano, he delegated production to his son-in-law Ezio Ellena. Ellena altered the vehicle by elevating the roof and removing the vent windows from the doors. These specimens were dubbed the 250 GT Ellena. On the long-wheelbase chassis, Carrozzeria Boano manufactured 74 250 GTs. Ellena produced additional 50 Coupés. Except for one, they were all coupés. At the 1956 New York Auto Show, the only convertible, 0461 GT, was sold off the display to New York collector Bob Lee. Lee purchased the automobile for $9,500, significantly below the cost, under the behest of Enzo Ferrari. He still owns it, making it one of the oldest Ferraris in the hands of the original owner.
