History of the Jaguar MkIX
The Jaguar Mark IX as a large luxury saloon car built between 1959-1961. It replaced the previous Mark VIII, and differed little in exterior appearance except for the new model name. It was replaced by the longer, wider and lower contemporary-styled Mark X in 1961.
The car is notable for the quality of brakes for the period, featuring four-wheel servo assisted Dunlop disc brakes as well as recirculating ball power steering as standard equipment, which sees the Mark IX still to this day being used regularly on the race circuit.
