1970 Triumph Vitesse Tyres

1970 Triumph Vitesse Convertible

Triumph Vitesse 1962–1971

  • The Triumph Vitesse originally ran on 560 - 13 crossply tyres. The only available tyre in this size is the 5.60 x 13 Camac, however, we do not recommend this as it is a budget tyre with a low-speed rating, a car like the Vitesse will perform significantly better on quality tyres.
  • For all versions of the Triumph Vitesse a set of either 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 or 155 HR 13 Michelin XAS FF is recommended by Longstone Tyres.
  • With the XAS, Michelin made more progress by differentiating the many elements that form the tyre, leading to the creation of the Michelin XAS, which was the first tyre with an asymmetrical tread pattern.
  • The Michelin XAS was constructed taking into account the different kinds of work done by the shoulders, sidewalls and different parts of the crown, depending on whether they are on the inside or outside relative to the car.
  • Just like a person's foot is asymmetrical, the inside and outside of a tyre work differently to give the car good balance and sure handling.
  • These tyres would best fit an Michelin 13D innertube.
  • Earlier models fitted tube-type wheels, but later models featured wheels with tubeless wheel technology, see our Innertube Page for help identifying your wheel type.

Independent Tyre Test - The Results

In the world of modern tyres it is commonplace to come across a tyre test. Sadly in the world of classic tyres, the investment never seems to be there to do a proper modern tyre test. However, a German magazine in July 2016 conducted this modern tyre test using classic tyres. This classic tyre test has been translated from German to English. What is remarkable in this tyre test is quite how well the PIRELLI CINTURATO â„¢; CN36 classic tyre performed in the table at the end. The scores in this table are not scored in relation to the other tyres in the test, so when a score of 1 is recorded, then that is a perfect score for a classic tyre or a modern tyre. It is wonderful to see that these classic PIRELLI CINTURATO â„¢; CN36 tyres can give such exemplary results.
