At the end of the eighties some Rolls Royce (Silver Spur & Corniche S) & Bentley (Turbo R & Continental Turbo) expanded their rim widths to 7" & 7.5" and moved away from the standard 235/70VR15 Avon to fit more low profile wider tyres in the size 255/65VR15 from Avon.
235/65R15 Tyres
This is not a terribly popular tyre size and we are fortunate that Avon continue to make their 235/65 VR 15 CR27, as many of these Rolls Royce and Bentley cars would have to compromise their originality.
