The PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 165 HR 400 is tailored to match the specifications of classic car chassis and provide the ideal handling and performance for 50s and 60s sports cars. Modern tyres are built for modern car chassis, which, if fitted, damages the handling of classic cars.
165 HR 400 Tyres
The tyre size 165 HR 400 is the earliest radial tyre size as made for Citroen Traction Avant, Lancia Aurelia, Flaminia, Alfa Romeo 1900, 2000, and the Alfa 2600. All these cars fitted 400mm wheels to take advantage of the new radial tyre technology and fitted 165 HR 400 tyres. Initially, the Michelin X was the sole radial tyre in the 165 HR 400 size, but when the Pirelli Cinturato 165 HR 400 CA67 came out in 1952, carmakers scrambled to get the best rubber on their best motors.
165 HR 400
The 165 HR 400 tyre size was predominantly used before tubeless wheels were fully developed. As such, any car sporting 165 HR 400 tyres will most likely need innertubes. We suggest fitting the Michelin 16E in any 165 HR 400 tyre, as 16E is the correct tube size and Michelin makes classic innertubes better than anyone else.
