190/65 HR 390 Tyres

The size 190/65 HR 390 may seem an unusual classic car tyre size, and it is. It means the tyre is approximately 190 mm wide. The side wall height is 65% of 190 mm and must be fitted to the special Michelin TRX millimetric 390mm wheels. Because these are such low-profile tyres they should not be fitted with an inner tube. The Michelin TRX on this 190/65 HR 390 offers a fabulously evocative retro tread patter for post classic cars of the youngtimer car era was developed in the mid 1970s.

190/65 HR 390 TRX Classic Tyres

There are few cars today that fit a 190/65 HR 390 Michelin TRX classic tyre now, mostly because there were not many cars fitting a 190/65 HR 390 tyre back in the day when this was current technology. The Michelin TRX tyres have always been relatively expensive because of the fantastic build quality of the TRX range from Michelin, but the carcass structure gives a fantastic ride and road holding. Normally tyres performing this well don’t last very well however the Michelin TRX did also return fantastic longevity. The 190/65 HR 390 TR were OE on the top model of the Citroen CX on their GTi model. (The GTi Turbo fitted the 210/55 HR 390 Michelin TRX), the 190/65 HR 390 also fitted the Ghia model of the MK2 Ford Granada. They were fitted to some Mercedes 220 & 240, an option on the Peugeot 504 and the Renault R30 TX.
