Michelin 185 VR15 XVS is speed rated at 149 mph. 185 VR15 Michelin XVS is an excellent high speed cruising tyre and sports car tyre for cars like Aston Martin DB4, Aston Martin DB5, Aston Martin DB6, later Citroen DS (post-1973), MK2 Jaguar, MK1 Jaguar, E type Jaguar, Mercedes 220D, Ferrari 250 GT, BMW 2600, and BMW 3200.
Michelin's range of classic asymmetric tyres, such as the 185 VR15 XVS, 185HR15 VXS-P, and 180HR15 XAS were designed in conjunction with the Citroen DS to improve their directional stability at cruising speeds on motorways and is as much a part of these Citroen DS cars as the suspension. The 185 VR15 Michelin XVS has the highest speed rating of all these asymmetric tyres. A DS with 15-inch wheels will drive dramatically better with Michelin 180HR15 XAS, 185HR15 XVS-P, or 185 VR15 XVS. These tyres are also intended to improve the handling of cars of this period. The XVS is also available as an 185HR15 Michelin XVS-P which is exceptional value for money with a raised curbing band on one side and a lower H speed rating.
It is also worth noting that the 180HR15 XAS, which is also exceptional value for money and is the original asymmetric tyre design for the DS, and our recommended tyre for a DS on 15” wheels.
185 VR15 Innertubes
The 185 VR15 Michelin XVS is a tubeless tyre. So in a situation where the tyre is being fitted on a wheel that is suited to being used tubeless, fit them without inner tubes. However, suppose you are intending to fit the 185 VR15 onto a wire wheel or another kind of wheel that needs inner tubes. In that case, we recommend the Michelin 15F innertube as well suited to this tyre.
185 VR15 white wall Tyres
Although we are not aware of any white wall 185 VR15 tyres Michelin does make this same tyre as a white wall but with an H speed rating.185 HR 15 Michelin XVS White Wall. It is worth noting that any car that needs the V speed rating does not want a white wall tyre.

Back in the day, this tyre could have been listed as a 185HR380 XVS, XVS-P, or XAS, a 185R380 XVS, XVS-P, or 185 VR380 XVS, XVS-P, or XAS.
