Mercedes-Benz 300 W186 Tyres (1951–1957)

• The original Mercedes 300 W186 from 1951 to 1957 had 15” wheels and 670 - 15 crossply tyres.
• If you desire a crossply tyre for the Mercedes-Benz 300a, 300b, or 300c, we suggest the 670 H 15 Avon Turbospeed. However, we would recommend instead fitting classic radial tyres.
• Radial tyres make classic and vintage cars much more suited to modern roads, on which crossply tyres tend to wander.
• The perfect radial tyre for these cars on 15” wheels is the 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67. The Cinturato CA67 is a 1952 tyre and would have been a period upgrade for these cars.
• For these tyres, the Michelin 15F is the ideal innertube.

1956 Mercedes Benz 300 SC W188

Mercedes-Benz 300 W188 Tyres (1951–1958)

• The Mercedes-Benz 300S W188 from 1951 to 1958 also fitted 15” wheels and 670 - 15 crossply tyres.
• If you want a crossply tyre, we would suggest the 670 H 15 Avon Turbospeed, however, we would recommend radial tyres.
• The ideal radial tyre for these cars is the 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67. The Cinturato CA67 is a 1952 tyre and would have been a period radial upgrade for these cars.
• For these tyres the Michelin 15F is the ideal innertube.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing/Roadster W198 Tyres (1957–1963)

• The fabulous Mercedes W198 300SL Gullwing Coupe from 1954 to 1957 fitted 6.70-15 crossply tyres, as did the 1957 to 1963 300 SL Roadster.
• If you want a crossply we suggest the 670 H 15 Avon Turbospeed; however, we suggest fitting radial tyres as they offer much better performance.
• Radial tyres are better suited to modern, high-speed roads, where they can sustain high speeds in a perfectly straight line.
• Longstone's recommendation for the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (coupe and roadster) is the 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
• A 185VR15 Michelin XVS would be another good option for Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, good for motorways but a bit too modern in design for the 50's–60's Gullwing.
• A Gullwing owner might fit a 205/70 R15 tyre to their 300SL, but this technology wasn’t developed until 1968; we suggest keeping to a full profile (80%) tyre size.
• If you do want the wider tyre, the 205/70 VR 15 Michelin XWX or 205/70 R 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN12 are the best options.
• A German automotive magazine conducted a Classic Car Tyre Test using a Jaguar E-Type. Their findings pointed to the PIRELLI CINTURATO™ CN12 as the ideal 205/70 R15 tyre for classic cars without power steering. For vehicles equipped with power steering, the PIRELLI P5 was found to be the better option.
• If you are going to fit wider tyres, the car will handle better on a tyre designed to suit a classic chassis like the Cinturato or XWX.
• These recommended tyres will be well suited to the Michelin 15F innertube.

1960 Mercedes Benz W189 300d

Mercedes-Benz 300D W189 Tyres (1958–1962)

• The Mercedes 300D 'Adenauer', on the W189 chassis (an enlarged variant of the W186), fitted 7.60-15 tyres.
• If you desire a crossply, we suggest the 670 H 15 Avon Turbospeed.
• We suggest you move to radial tyres, which allow for the fitment of the excellent 185 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
• The CA67 will drastically improve the car's usability on today's fast, modern roadways.
• The Michelin 15F is the best tube for these tyres.

1963 Mercedes-Benz Fintail 300 SE W112

Mercedes-Benz 300 W112 Fintail Tyres (1961–1965)

• On the W112 chassis, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE and 300 SE Lang of 1961 to 1965 we would be well suited to the Michelin 725SR13 Michelin X.
• The 725SR13 Michelin X is the ideal tyre for the W112 300SE Sedan (1961–1965), 300SE coupe and cabriolet (1962–1967), and 300SE Long (1963–1965).
• Michelin now make Mercedes 300 whitewall tyres for these W112 chassis cars; the 7.25 R13 Michelin X Whitewall.
• The Michelin 13F is the correct and best innertube for 7.25 R13 tyres.
• The W112 series featured the distinctive "fintails" or "Heckflosse", which were part of the design across both the W111 and W112 series during the early 1960s. Not all variants have the pronounced fintail, as the design started to phase out towards the mid-1960s.
• In the mid-'60s, the Mercedes 300 SE, 300 SE Lang, and 300 SE Coupe moved onto 14” wheels. We would suggest the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P is the best option for these cars.
• White wall tyres for Mercedes 300 on 14” wheels on the W112 chassis, we suggest 185 R 14 Michelin MXV Whitewall tyres.
• The Michelin 14F is the ideal innertube for 185 R14 tyres.

1966 Mercedes Benz 300 SEb W108

Mercedes-Benz 300 W108 Tyres (1965–1967)

• The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEb made from 1965–1967 was the only 300 car on the W108 chassis, originally fitting 7.35-14 crossply tyres. We recommend switching to radial tyres and fitting the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P.
• Radial tyres will make your car more compliant with modern roads and allow you to drive in a straight line.
• White wall tyres for Mercedes 300 on 14” wheels on the W108 chassis, we suggest the 185 R 14 Michelin MXV Whitewall.
• For these tyres, we recommend the Michelin 14F innertube.

1966 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Coupe W109

Mercedes-Benz 300 W109 Tyres (1965–1972)

• In the first year of production, the 300 SEL convertibles fitted 7.50-13 crossply tyres as OE. We suggest switching to radial tyres and fitting the 725SR13 Michelin X.
• The 300 SEL 8 6.3 introduced in 1968 fitted 7.35-14 tyres as original equipment. We recommend the 185R14 size, with a set of 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P tyres.
• The 6.3-litre 300 SEL on the W109 chassis fitted a FR/70R14 tyre. This size is more commonly expressed as 215/70 R14.
• Currently, the best tyre for these cars would be the 215/70 VR 14 Michelin XWX.
• The correct innertube for 215/70 R14 tyres is the Michelin 14H Offset valve Innertube.

• The 1974–1976 Mercedes 300 D (the only 300 named car on the W115 chassis) fitted 185R14 tyres. In this size, we suggest the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P.
• The Michelin 14F is the best innertube for tyres in the 185R14 size.

1968 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL W123

Mercedes-Benz 300 W123 Tyres (1977–1985)

• For the W123 Mercedes 300 D, we would suggest fitting the 175HR14 Michelin XAS or 175HR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 with a set of Michelin 14E innertubes.
• Mercedes 300 TD and 300 CD on the W123 chassis fitted 195/70 R14 tyres. In this size, we are happy to recommend the 195/70 VR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36.
• We recommend the same tyres for the 300D, and 300CD Turbodiesel in the American Market, and the 1980–1986 300 TD Turbodiesel in the European market.
• For 195/70 R14 tyres, the Michelin 14F innertube will fit the best.

1980 Mercedes Benz 300 SD W116

Mercedes-Benz 300 W116 Tyres (1978–1980)

• The Mercedes-Benz 300 SD, made from 1978 to 1980 on the W116 chassis exclusively for the USA and Canadian markets, fitted 185R14 tyres. In this size, we recommend the 185HR14 Michelin MXV-P.
• The correct innertube for 185R14 tyres is the Michelin 14F.
