The 205/70 WR 15 Pirelli P5 has such a high W speed rating, because the majority of sales of this tyre will made to the Jaguar luxury cars of the 1970s and 1980s. It is worth noting that many of these cars did have the fabulous turbine like V12 engine in it that could propel the XJ12 or XJS-V12 to fantastic speeds in luxury and style.

Remarkably, the P5 was the first time a bespoke tyre was made for a car manufacturer at the request of the manufacturer themselves. At the end of the 1970s, Jaguar asked Pirelli to design a special tyre to fit their high-powered luxury cars. Hence the Pirelli P5 205/70 WR 15 Jaguar tyres.

It is worth noting that the range of Pirelli P5 goes further than the original 205/70 WR 15. Pirelli also make 215/70WR15 P5 for the XJ12 HE and the XJS V12 And they also make the 225/65R15 P5 for the later XJ40. This of course also applies to the Daimler cars of the day.

The series 3 Jaguar E-Type also fitted tyres of the size 205/70WR15. The third generation of E-Types have power steering technology, making them perfectly suited to the 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5.
