About 4.00/4.50 x 18 Longstone
450X18 (450-18) Tyres
Many of the 450X18 (450-18) tyres these days are oversized, so at Longstone Classic Tyres we thought it was time to build a tyre that was a genuine 4.50X18 (4.50-18). We came across a genuine vintage Dunlop 3-stud tyre from the 20's and 30's and had our tyres made in the same dimensions with a tread pattern that also looked reminiscent of the 450X18 (450-18) tyres of this period. It is common for people to describe these tyres 450X18; however many people and tyre manufacturers exchange the X for - and describe it 4.50-18. However 4.50X18 and 450-18 are both the same size.
Austin 10 tyres
We have produced a tyre exactly to suit the Austin 10. The Austin 10/4 came out fitting a 450X18 tyre.
The Longstone 400/450X18 tyre was built using an original 450X18 tyre as a pattern. Today as the years have gone by tyres have tended to get bigger as people's perceptions have been that bigger is better. Of course if a bigger tyre would have suited the Austin 10, Austin would have fitted one. So at Longstone Tyres we would encourage you to fit this correct sized 450X18 tyre to an Austin 10.
It is called a 400/450x18 tyre because it is also similar in size to some of the current 400X18 tyres. however it is a correct 450X18.
