About 205/70 ZR 15 Pirelli P4000
These tyres are no longer in production; Pirelli ceased production in 2011. If you are looking for tyres for a classic car in the size 205/70 R15, we recommend either the 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5 for luxury cars from the 1970s and 1980s, such as the Jaguar XJ6 or Jaguar XJS. However, for an earlier non-power-steering car, we suggest the 205/70 R 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN12. If you still have P4000 tyres on your car, they are no longer fit for purpose due to their age.
205/70 ZR 15 Pirelli P4000 (discontinued)
205/70 ZR 15 Tyres
Many classic cars, particularly Jaguar fitted 185 R15 tyres as standard. The tyre size 205/70 ZR 15 is a later low profile alternative to a 185 R15 full profile tyre. As a result the later series 3 E-type with power steering, the XJ6, XJS and early XJ12 Jaguars and their Daimler counterparts fitted 205/70 R15 tyres.
205/70 ZR 15
For some time the Pirelli P4000 was excellent value for such a high quality tyre in the size 205/70 ZR 15. However the P4000 is no longer manufactured and hasn’t been for some considerable time. The last production of 205/70 ZR 15 Pirelli P4000 tyres was as far back as 2011. So if you want to replace them the good news is that Pirelli now make the 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5 which has been tested and homologated by Jaguar specifically for these cars, so we would strongly suggest the P5.
205/70ZR15 Innertubes
We recommend the Michelin 15F innertube if you are fitting your 205/70 ZR 15 tyres onto wire wheels or any early wheels that are not suited to tubeless tyres.
A: the last time Pirelli made a production of their 205/70 ZR 15 P4000 tyres was back in 2011.
A: the old Pirelli P4000 205/70ZR15 is no longer made. Though many manufacturers make 205/70 R 15 tyres, they do not tend to be of the ZR speed rating. Pirelli however do make a 205/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO P5 and a 205/70 R 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN12. We would suggest these are perfect for any car fitted with the 205/70ZR15 P4000. If it is a Jaguar XJ then the Pirelli P5 was OE.
