820 X 120 Beaded Edge Tyres

Back in the early 1920s you would find beaded edge 820 X 120 fitted to all manner of medium sizes cars such as the Bentley 3 Litre, Delage DIS, Sunbeam 20/60, Vauxhall 30-98, etc. The tyre description 820 X 120 is millimetric, meaning the overall diameter is approximately 820mm and the tyre section is 120mm. the more modern well based wheel equivalent to 820 X 120 beaded edge tyres is a 525X21 tyre. However that needs to be fitted to a 21” well based wheel, a different rim to the 820 X 120 beaded edge wheel.

Because of beaded edge tyre technology being flawed and obsolete, over the years people have often changed these vintage cars onto well based 21” wheels to fit a more secure tyre structure. However if you want to continue with the 820 X 120 beaded edge tyres we strongly recommend using a minimum of 60psi (4 BAR). High tyre pressure and the strong carcass structure of these Ensign Chevron Cord beaded edge tyres gives your car the best chance it has of keeping beaded edge tyres on their wheels.

820 X 120 Innertubes

All beaded edge tyres need to be run with innertubes. It is a critical part of holding the tyre on the rim. We strongly recommend the Central Valve H/D Michelin Inner Tube 820X120. They are a remarkably strong innertube with a period brass Schraeder valve.

The Overall Diameter of the 8.20 x 120 Ensign Chevron Cord is 828 mm and the width is 121 mm.
