In 1973 with the to RS and Carrera 911 Models Porsche fitted wider rear wheels to accommodate the 215/60 R 15 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 that Pirelli are now reproducing with Porsches N4 homologation. Porsche continued to fit 215/60 R 15 tyres to the rear of cars through to the ‘80s and into the 911 SC models.

Although in period Pirelli first made their 215/60 VR 15 Cinturato CN36 as tube type tyres. It wasn’t long before tyre manufacturers learnt not to fit inner tubes in tyres with a profile such as 215/60 VR 15. And they only fitted inner tubes in 70% profile and above tyres. Around the same time wheel manufacturers learned to improve their rim profiles to have a safety rib making them more suited to tubeless tyres such as the current 215/60 WR 15 Cinturato CN36.
