The PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 185VR16 tyres are premium classic tyres; providing excellent handling, an impressive V-speed rating, and an authentic classic tyre appearance. The PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 185VR16 is designed to complement classic car sports chassis, providing progressive handling. Modern tyres are designed for modern car chassis, which are much stiffer, which will damage your classic car's handling.

185VR16 Tyres Explained

185VR16

The 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 is a very important classic tyre. This 185VR16 tyre was the beginning of radial tyres being manufactured to fit imperial inch-sized wheels, which were the norm on most cars. This tyre, 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67, was original equipment on Maserati's from the 50s up until 1964. Also, some 250 Ferrari cars fitted the 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67.

Many British cars, such as XK120, XK140, XK150, Bristol 401, 403, 406, 407, 408, 409, Triumph Gloria & Renown, Riley RM, and Pathfinder, would have originally fitted a vintage crossply tyre of the size 600x16. Fitting a radial tyre such as the 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 would dramatically improve the road holding and longevity compared to a crossply. Today, particularly fitting the 185VR16, a PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ will improve the handling of these cars because it is a tyre that is designed to suit cars such as these, compared to other tyres where you have a modern tyre designed for a different type of car that would also fit.

185VR16 Tyres

Back in the '50s and 60's, Aston Martin fitted DB2, DB2/4, DB MK3, and DB4 with the crossply tyres 600H16 Avon TurboSpeed. However, if a customer wanted to fit a radial upgrade, it was the 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 that was offered.

185VR16 Innertubes

The majority of these 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato tyres will predominantly be fitted to wire wheels, and often the Ferrari, Maserati, and Aston Martin will be fitted with Borrani Aluminium rimmed wire wheels. Wire wheels were designed to be fitted with innertubes. The best innertubes currently manufactured are, of course, Michelin. The best innertube for a 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato is the Michelin 16 F RET innertube. We would suggest the Michelin 16F RET is the best innertube for any 185VR16 tyre or 6.00-16 crossply tyre for that matter.

Cars in the 1950s and early 1960s that would want the 185VR16 Pirelli, such as some of the XK Jaguars, Bristol, and Riley RM, often fitted pressed steel wheels. These pressed steel wheels are still tube-type wheels. They still need to fit an innertube. The best one is still the Michelin 16 F RET.

The 1950s was also an odd period where innertube manufacturers had different ideas about the right diameter for the valve stem. The standard is the TR13 valve stem. If your wheel has a larger hole in the rim, suited to the TR15 then we offer valve collars to suit.

The overall diameter of the 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 is 705 mm and the width is 178 mm. For more information on the 185VR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 please see below or call +44 (0) 1302 711 123.
