7.00 X 21 Michelin Cable Confort SS also has 700x21 Comfort Cord SS written in English on the other side. The 700X21 is the ideal tyre for Phantom 1 Rolls Royce and the Phantom 2. Wire wheels need inner tubes and as a result generally speaking spoked wheels have spokes going to the well of the wheel then they do need rim tapes. There are a few exceptions where they only have spokes going to the bead seat, where there is no need to fit a rim band.

Just like on a bicycle wheel, when fitting an inner tube into a wire wheel, it is important to have a band of tape that covers the head of the spokes that protrude into the well of a spoked wire wheel. This rim tape or rim band should be of a soft material that is compliant with the inner tube and will not react with the rubber of the tube which is why we suggest that any kind of sticky tape is not as suitable as a rubber rim tape made of a similar material to a high quality inner tube.Rim Band
When fitting a rim band it should simply sit in the well of the wheel. Often people make the mistake of thinking they need a rim band that covers, what we call, the bead seat. This is the area of the wheel rim that the bead of the tyre sits on, because there is often spoke heads that protrude through there as well as the well of the wheel rim. However the spoke heads in the bead seat are covered by the bead of the tyre itself. A common mistake we come across is where people use insulating tape or Gaffer tape to cover the bead seats, the tape then bunches up, creates a sharp edge that in itself causes a puncture.
