6.00 – 19 Dunlop Racing

If you want a performance vintage tyre in the size 6.00 – 19 then the Dunlop Racing 5-Stud offers the best carcase for sporting handling. It is road legal and offers plenty of tread depth so it lasts well and is excellent in the wet. Worth noting that the 5-Stud tread pattern became available in 1934. The 5 – Stud was a massive improvement on the Dunlop 3 – Stud of the 1920s that is currently copied by a variety of manufacturers. The 3 – Stud tread pattern is not suited to tarmac usage, so the 5-stud tread pattern was developed to give the blocks greater stability. Which is one of the reasons that the 5-stud tyres are able to give greater tread depth.

6.00 – 19 5-Stud

Often these 6.00-19 tyres are fitted to the rear of a car such as a Type 51 Bugatti or Bugatti 35 where the 5.00 – 19 Dunlop Racing 5-Stud is fitted to the rear. Worth noting that this is not what Bugatti did in period, where they fitted the same size tyres front and rear. 450X19 for a Type 35 and 5.00-19 for the type 51.

Also Many bigger cars such as Bentley often fit the 6.00 – 19 Dunlop Racing 5-stud on the front and a 7.00 – 19 Dunlop Racing R1 on the Rear. Sadly this isn’t what was done in period, and sadly the 7.00 – 19 has a different tread pattern to the 600 – 19 5-Stud.
