185 R 16 Tyres

The 185 R 16 Michelin X is an ideal tyre to use as a radial upgrade to a classic 1950s car that would have originally fitted 6.70-16 or 6.00-16 cross ply tyres. The Michelin X was marketed from 1959 and the tyre 185 R 16 Michelin X was soon common place on a wide variety of cars in the period such as XK120, XK140 and XK150 Jaguars, the Ferrari road cars of the 1950s, Riley RM cars, some of the early post war Alvis sports cars and 1950s Maserati.

Worth noting that the current production of 185 R 16 Michelin X have an S speed rating. For some of the faster 1950s sports car maybe the 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 with its V speed rating might be more appropriate. Pirelli also now make a proper period high performance crossply that the 185 R 16 radial would often be used as a replacement for which is the 6.00-16 Pirelli Stella Bianca.
