XWX
Classic XWX Michelin Tyres
I was looking at our You Tube channel recently and wondering which of our films had the most views. It turned out to be Our Michelin XWX film. I wondered why it should be such a big hitter. And I think it is because XWX might mean something wholly different. And there are streams of people out there hoping for something a little more invigorating, who then find watch a film of a fat dull Yorkshireman discussing the fascinating the nerdy facts about the XWX tyre.
Michelin XWX
Michelin make a great range of all the most important late ’60s, 70s and ‘80s XWX tyres. Importantly most of them attain the W – 170mph Speed rating:
- 205/70VR14 XWX (89W) – top of the range BMW. Mercedes 280, 300, 450. Fiat Dino. Ferrari Dino 206, 246 & 308. And the front of the first Lamborghini Countach
- 215/70VR14 XWX (92W) – Mercedes 450SEL and the rear off the Lamborghini Countach, because the XWX was the only tyre capable of withstanding that power
- 205VR14 XWX (89W) – Ferrari 275 GTB, 330 GTC, Maserati Indy & MK10 Jaguar
- 185/70VR15 XWX (89V) – Porsche, Maserati Merak (front)
- 205/70VR15 XWX (90W) – Citroen SM, Jaguar Saloon Maserati Merak (rear)
- 215/70VR15 XWX (90W) – Ferrari 330, 365, 400 & 512BB front. Maserati Bora, Indy, Ghibli & V12 Jaguar
- 225/70VR15 XWX (92W) – Aston Martin V8, Ferrari 512 BB rear, Maserati QuattroPorte
