Radial Tyres 13"

13 Inch Radial Tyres

13 inch Tyres

  • 13 inch wheels were a staple fitment for a massive range of classic cars.
  • The wheel size on modern cars considerably exceeds that of 13”, making suitable tyres for these classic cars increasingly difficult to find.
  • Ford Anglia, Ford Capri, Ford Corsair, Ford Escort, Ford Taunus, Ford Cortina, Ford Fiesta and many more Ford from the 1950s through to the 1980s fitted 13” tyres.
  • 13” tyres were also a mainstay for the majority of other manufacturers of this period; Alfa Romeo, Audi, Austin, BMW, Fiat, Honda, Jensen, Lada, Lancia, Lotus, Matra, Mazda, Mercedes, MG, Morris, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Simca, Singer, Sunbeam, Talbot, Triumph and Vauxhall would have had 13 inch wheels and tyres on the majority of their classic cars.
  • Today we have 145HR13 Pirelli Cinturato CA67, the perfect 13” radial for cars like Ford Cortina MK1, Triumphs Spitfire and MG Midget, and a radial alternative to 5.20 – 13” crossply tyres.
  • The 155HR13 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 is a great tyre for a Ford Escort, Lotus Elan or Vauxhall Chevette and an alternative to 5.60 section crossply 13 inch tyres.
  • 165R13 tyres are made again by Pirelli as a Cinturato CN36 as a radial alternative to 5.90 - 13” for cars like the Fiat 124, Lotus Elan +2 and Classic BMW.
  • In 1968 Pirelli developed the Cinturato CN36 in which they make some 13” low profile tyres. The 175/70R13 Cinturato CN36 is a low profile alternative to 155R13 and the 185/70R13 CN36 is a low profile version of 165R13 tyres.

White wall 13” radial Tyres

  • Classic Mercedes such as the 190 SL would fit Michelin 640/700R13 Michelin ZX. These are now also produced as 13” white wall tyres.
  • Michelin also make the 7.25 R 13 inch white wall X tyres to fit the Mercedes 220 and 230S classic cars where a 13” white wall radial tyre is ideal.
