Alfa Romeo Giulietta Tyres
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta fitted a 155x15 tyre. For this car we would recommend the 155x15 Pirelli Cinturato™ tyre or the 155x15 Michelin XAS.
Pirelli Cinturato™ Tyre
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta (series 750 and 101) was a subcompact car manufactured by the Italian car maker Alfa Romeo from 1954 to 1965.
The first Giulietta model was a coupe, the Giulietta Sprint, introduced in late 1954. This was followed by a saloon in spring 1955 and in mid 1955, the open two-seat Giulietta Spider, featuring convertible bodywork by Pininfarnia.
Carrozzeria Colli made also Giulietta estate variant called Giulietta Promiscua. There was only 91 examples of this.Carrozzeria Boneschi made also few estate car examples called Weekendina.
The Giulietta used an Alfa Romeo twin cam which was a straight 4 1290 cc, Alfa Romeo used a light alloy cylinder block and alloy cylinder head with twin overhead camshafts. The original Giulietta engine produced a power output of 53 bhp in the saloon and 80 bhp in the Giulietta Sprint. This was to be increased to 100 bhp in later sporting models such as the Giulietta Sprint Speciale and the Giulietta Sprint Sprint Zagato.
Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Tyres
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 fitted a 155x15 tyre as did the 1967 1300 GT junior Giulia, 1300Ti Giulia and the 1600 super Giulia in 1964. For these cars we would recommend the 155x15 Pirelli Cinturato™ tyre or the 155x15 Michelin XAS.
Pirelli Cinturato™ Tyre
In Italy the Alfa Romeo Giulia race series is supplied by Michelin and they use the 155HR15 Michelin XAS FF classic tyre. In tests the XAS FF was quicker and offered better longevity than other brands.
If your Alfa Romeo Giulia has 14 inch wheels fitted the fitment for these models would be a 165x14. For these cars we would recommend the 165HR14 Michelin XAS tyre. Pirelli Cinturato™ will be available soon in this size.

Alfa Romeo Giulia History
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Saloon, Sprint and Spider were all launched in 1962 at the Autodrome in Monza. All of the varieties on offer were high performance cars, however the 1600 Saloon was obscure, with its cut-off tail styling. The mechanics and bodywork were very advanced for the time, sporting such technologies as a live back axel. Even more so, the 1750cc engine (from the Giulietta offered tremendous power for the time. It was designed for long motorway journeys at high speed, but also to be peppy enough for city driving. The most famous sporting versions of the Alfa Romeo Giulia were the GTA and the TZ. The GTA was designed to take part in the Touring category, hence it was equipped with aluminium doors and bonnet.

Alfa Romeo 1750 History
The Alfa Romeo 1750 to the memory of Vittorio Jano, and his 1750 from the 1930's. The Alfa Romeo 1750 was released in 1968, the aim was to replace the Giulia saloon. Its target market was Alfa's mature customers, offerig superior performance and tremendous reserves of power, without sacrificing the comfort now expected from a high class saloon. The car was spacious inside, yet still held together an aerodynamic stature. It made its debut at Francorchamps 24-hour race, four cars competed, and claiming the first four positions for production Touring cars. The Saloon 1750 was launched at the Turin Motor Show in 1970, it comprised of a double breaking circuit, iodine lights, fully dropping windscreen wipers, and top hinged brake and clutch pedals.

The classic Alfa Romeo 1900 is a sports saloon designed by orazio satta for the Alfa romeo company in 1950. It was Alfa Romeo's first car built entirely on a production line and was also Alfa's first production car without separate chassis.
The 1900 was offered in two door or four door models, with a new 1884 cc, 90 bhp, 4 cylinder twin cam engine. It was spacious and simple, yet quick and sporty. The slogan Alfa used when selling it was "The family car that wins races", not-so-subtly alluding to the car's success in the Targa florio, Stella Alpina, and other competitions. In 1951 was introduced short wheelbase 1900C version, this had wheelbase of 2,500 mm. In the same year was also introduced 1900 TI with more powerful 100 bhp engine, it had bigger valves, compression ratio was higher and it had double carburetor. Two years later was introduced 1900 Super and 1900 TI Super with 1975 cc engine. TI Super had two double carburetors and 115 bhp. Transmission was 4-speed manual on basic versions and 5-speed manual in Super Sprint version, brakes were drum brakes. The 1900 has independent front suspension double wishbones, coil springs and hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers and live rear axle.
Production continued until 1959, a total of 21,304 were built. The chassis was designed specifically to allow coach builders to rebody it, the most notable of which was the Zagato designed, 1900 Super Sprint Coupe, with an improved engine and custom body design.

The classic Alfa Romeo 2000
The engine with its Reasonable power and advanced aerodynamic style made Alfa Romeo 2000 sportives a very advanced car.The whole,in a sense was the forerunner of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta sprint.
The Alfa Romeo 2000 was a two liter super car and was built to pay homage to the many victories acheived by the earlier 30's and 40's Alfa Romeo racing cars.A space frame sportiva chasis also seen on the wonderful Disco Volante ,de dion rear axle and hemispherical combustion chamber engine producing a staggering 140 horsepower was used.
Bertone's Franco Scaglione was given the task of designing a short lightweight body that would fit on the space frame chasis. Only two designs were created a coupe and a spyder. Unfortunatly production of these wonderfull cars was low and only two spyders and two coupes were created, this meant these Alfa Romeos were extremely exclusive. This was a road going supercar which was extremely compettitive in its day,the Alfa Romeo 2000 incorporated modern design techniques and technological advancements, which gave the edge over competitors.

The Classic Alfa Romeo 2600 was Alfa Romeo's six-cylinder flagship produced from 1961 to 1968. It was the successor to the Classic Alfa Romeo 2000. It has become historically significant as the last Alfa Romeo to have been fitted with an inline six-cylinder engine having twin overhead camshafts. That had been the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration since the 1920's, but gave way to four-cylinder engines as the factory oriented its production towards more economical mass-produced car models after the Second World War.
The 2600 was introduced in the 1962 Geneva Motor show, as a saloon with a factory-built body , a two-plus-two seater convertible with body by Carrozzeria Touring , and a Coupe with a bodywork by Bertone . A convertible based on the Alfa Romeo Sprint coupe was shown by Bertone in 1963. It was also named Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint, but did not enter production. The 2600 SZ with fastback coupe bodywork by Zagato, and the limited-edition 2600 De luxe with six-window saloon bodywork by Officine Stampaggi Industriale were introduced three years later in 1965 at the Frankfurt motor show.
Alfa Romeo's Berlina styling was not happy and that was reflected in especially poor sales for that model; while most Alfa Romeo berlinas in the marque's history outsold the more specialised sporting models in the same range, the Classic Alfa Romeo 2600 Berlina did not outsell the 2600 Sprint and Spider. The Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider had styling which was seen to be derivative of that of its smaller stablemate, the Giulietta Spider: certainly handsome, but lacking the smaller car's grace and balance. The larger car's handling also suffered perhaps unfair comparison to that of the Giulietta Spider, and this is an important factor in a car with a sporting orientation. One sales point in its favour was that it was a four-seater convertible, though the two rear seats were fairly tight and small.
The classic 2600 Sprint made more of an impression. It was a large grand touring coupe which could seat four adults in comfort over long journeys at high speeds! As such, it did not suffer unfair comparisons to other models in the classic Alfa Romeo range, none of which could directly compare to it. In that mode of operation, oriented more towards fast touring than sporty driving as you do in a classic Alfa Romeo, the agility and handling balance of the smaller Alfa Romeos mattered less, while the stability and smoother ride of the larger car, and the wide power and torque band of the six-cylinder engine, came into their own. Added to the greater space and comfort, those virtues made a convincing case for the classic Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint. The car also inherited the sharp, modern styling of its predecessor, the 2000 Sprint, and that certainly contributed to its being the top seller in the 2600 range. That shape had been the result of Giorgetto Giugiaro's first major project as head designer for Carrozeria Bertone, and is arguably one of the most influential designs in the history of classic Alfa Romeo styling.
A certain number of Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint were purchased by the Italian government and specially equipped and modified to be used as police cars, respectively nicknamed "Pantera" and "Gazzella, from the emblems of their rapid intervention teams. The cars were very suitable for high-speed chases to counter the increase in armed robberies by motorized gangs in 1960s Italy, and appeared in quite a few genre movies of the time.
Alfa Romeo Spider Tyres
The Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 and the 1750 model fitted a 165x14. We would recommend the Michelin XAS for its period design and Michelin's excellent build quality.

Alfa Romeo Spider History
The Spider 1600 used the same mechanics as the Giulia, it was launched at the 36th Geneva Motor Show in 1966. The highly original cuttle-fish tail and convex sides gave a striking image, the tail was toned down on later Spiders (from approximately 1970 onwards).
Alfa Romeo ran a competition to name the car; 'Duetto' won, however enthusiasts preferred the '1600 Spider.' The engine was later swapped for the 1750 GT Veloce, mounted on the Pininfarina Spider. This further increased the already astonishing performance figures.
The Alfa Romeo Spider was extremely successful, with great staying power. It stayed in production for 26yrs, a figure only a handful of cars have matched.
Alfa Romeo Montreal Tyres
The Alfa Romeo Montreal fitted a 195/70VR14 tyre. Unfortunately Vredestein are the only people making a tyre in this size with the correct speed rating.
In 1983 Alfa Romeo Frankfurt specified 200/70 VR14 and 205/70VR14 tyre as admissible after-market replacements for the 195/70VR14 ones. In this size the tyre to have would be the 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX which offers the same tread pattern as the car originally fitted.
Alfa Romeo Montreal History
The classic Alfa Romeo Montreal was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Alfa Romeo Montreal was introduced as a concept car in 1967 at the universal exhibition in Montreal. A car for the future, Alfa Romeo wanted the Montreal to be ahead of technological progress of the time. The production of the classic Alfa Romeo Montreal was initiated in 1970. The end result was a car of outstanding class offering competition level performance with an engine derived from the Tipo 33 sports prototype race car. It eventually rolled out of the Alfa Romeo factory in December of 1971.
The classic Alfa Romeo Montreal featured a V8, which was very similar to the one found in the Alfa Romeo type 33 and a top speed of 130mph. The chassis was from the classic Alfa romeo 1750, the Alfa Romeo Montreal also possesed a 5 speed gearbox and ventilated disc brakes, which it needed to stop the roaring V8.
The Alfa Romeo Montreal is very important in the history of classic Alfa Romeo's as it is the only post war car equipped with a V8 that was almost exclusive to competition. There were only 3,917 Alfa Romeo Montreal's produced between 1971 and 1975 and amazingly this classic Alfa Romeo was never exported to the United States.
Alfa Romeo Alfetta Tyres
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta fitted a 165x14 tyre (we would reccomend the Michelin XAS), or a 185/70x14 (of which we would recommend the Avon CR6ZZ).
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta is a rear wheel drive executive saloon car and a fast coupe produced from 1972 until 1987 by Alfa Romeo. It was popular due to its combination of a modest design with powerful engines, selling over 400,000 units until the end of its production run, but in the final years its sales were down due to Alfa Romeo's reliability problems that plagued the company through the late 1970s and early 1980s.Is it true Alfa drivers?
The Saloon had a body designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, and the Alfetta GTV coupe (not to be confused with the classic Giulia GTV), was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Alfetta introduced a new drivetrain layout to the marque. Clutch and transmission were housed at the rear of the car, together with the differential for a more balanced weight distribution, as used on the Alfetta 158/159 Grand Prix cars. The suspension relied on double wishbone and torsion bars at the front and de dion beam at the rear.
The Alfetta was renewed in 1979 with a revised frontend, new wheel rims and new lights, as well as a diesel version! It was available with two four cylinder double over head cam engines with two valves per cylinder and a Turbo Diesel engine supplied by VM Motori. The 1.6 and 1.8 L base models had two double-barrel carburettors, while the 2.0 DOHC received fuel injection in 1979. The diesel initially had 2.0 L, but was increased to 2.4 L in 1982.
The four-door Alfetta was sold in the USA from 1975 through 1977 under the name Alfa Romeo Alfetta sedan. From 1978 to 1979 a mildly restyled version was sold under the name Sport Sedan. The four-cylinder coupe was available from 1975 to 1977 under the moniker Alfetta GT Finally, the V-6 version was marketed from 1981 to 1986 as the GTV-6.
The classic Alfa Romeo Alfetta became well known throughout the world since it was Italian Prime Minister's Aldo morro's official escort car, when, in 1978, he was first kidnapped, then killed, by the Italian Terrorist left-wing organization The Red Brigades. A fictionalised account of these events was produced as a critically well regarded Italian film , The Advocate, which also heavily featured the classic Alfa Romeo's Alfettas of all types, from Carabinieri 'Short Nose-Round Light' through to the Prime Minister's own 'Long Nose-Square Light' 2000 Super Saloon.
