Michelin TRX Millimetric Tyres

Right from the beginnings of radial tyre production Michelin were making the Michelin X for 400mm metric wheel sizes for classic cars.
The first Citroen Traction Avant and the 2CV came fitted with 165R400 Michelin X and 125R400 Michelin X metric radial tyres.
Michelin again moved to millimetric wheel sizes for their range of super low profile Michelin TRX metric radial tyres in the 1970s.
Cars like the Ferrari 308 fitted 220/55VR390 Michelin TRX and the Jaguar XJ40 can fit 220/65VR390 Avon CR39.
Fortunately Avon, Michelin and Pirelli still support some of these important millimetric radial tyre sizes for classic cars.

Millimetric radial tyres are only to be fitted to millimetric rims of standard wellbase design. Millimetric tyres should not be fitted to rims with imperial dimensions.

Millimetric Michelin X Tyres

The Michelin X Millimetric Radial Tyres were first marketed as the 'Michelin X' tyre in 1949. To this day the Michelin X is still manufactured to fit 400mm millimetric tyre rims. Michelin still manufacture the Michelin X to fit cars such as Citroens Traction Avante and the early 2CV etc. The Michelin X is still an excellent tyre.
